Kaufland Ends FBK Service and Introduces New Cross-Border E-commerce Logistics
Release time:2025-02-08 15:35
Recently, the German e-commerce platform Kaufland announced that it will discontinue its warehousing and fulfillment service, Fulfillment by Kaufland (FBK). This service will continue until February 28, after which products stored in the warehouses will be returned to the respective sellers free of charge. Kaufland stated that it is developing a new international multi-channel warehousing and fulfillment service to replace FBK.
Launched on February 12th last year, the FBK service attracted sellers with its competitive storage and order processing fees. However, Kaufland quickly reevaluated the strategy and decided to discontinue the service. Sellers have already received notifications about the termination of the service.
The termination of the FBK service is closely tied to Kaufland's strategic transformation. Although FBK is ending, this does not mean Kaufland is abandoning its logistics services. On the contrary, Kaufland announced that it will replace Fulfillment by Kaufland with a cross-border logistics service. This new service will better meet sellers' needs and provide more efficient support for the growth of cross-border e-commerce businesses.
According to Kaufland's commitment, the newly launched European e-commerce service will be more suitable for cross-border e-commerce conditions and help sellers achieve international growth. The new cross-border logistics service will feature a modular design, offering tailored services for sellers, including automated shipping and returns label solutions as well as multi-channel logistics. The service will not only handle orders from the Kaufland platform but also include orders from external e-commerce platforms and sellers' own e-commerce websites. This approach is similar to the multi-channel logistics service ZEOS launched by Germany's Zalando Group for third-party sellers.
Currently, this new service is being developed in close collaboration with sellers, designing, evaluating, and testing various options.
Kaufland was originally a large supermarket chain in Germany. Four years ago, it launched its e-commerce platform after the Schwarz Group acquired Real.de. Since 2023, Kaufland has gradually expanded into Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Austria, and Poland. In addition to Kaufland, the Schwarz Group also owns the Lidl supermarket chain.
