Amazon Joins Forces with TikTok and Pinterest for Seamless In-App Shopping
Release time:2024-08-12 15:13
On August 8th, according to foreign media reports, Amazon has signed partnership agreements with TikTok and Pinterest, allowing social media users to purchase products from Amazon without leaving the app.
In an announcement regarding this collaboration, TikTok explained how this social commerce service works:
- Users will see Amazon product recommendations in their "For You" feed. When ready to purchase, they can link their TikTok account to their Amazon account through a one-time setup.
- Once the accounts are linked, Amazon customers can complete their purchases directly within the TikTok app without leaving, providing a faster and smoother experience.
- Users who choose to link their U.S. Amazon accounts will see real-time pricing, Prime eligibility, shipping estimates, and product details in the Amazon product ads featured on TikTok.
- Users can unlink their Amazon accounts at any time within TikTok’s app settings.

This partnership is another move by Amazon to strengthen social commerce. Last November, Amazon established similar partnerships with Meta’s Facebook and Instagram, as well as Snap's Snapchat, applicable to selected products promoted on these platforms and sold by Amazon or independent sellers.
According to research by PYMNTS, social media channels attract a large global audience, with 28% of consumers making purchases directly from social media platforms when they see a product that interests them. Through this collaboration, Amazon, TikTok, and Pinterest aim to provide users with a more seamless shopping experience while boosting sales on these platforms.
